This is Tain's story, his life after captivity and the madness brought on by centuries of torture. When he discovers young demons are disappearing, he goes to Samantha for help. The case takes them back into danger, with demon hunters on one hand and an ancient demon on the other.Spoiler alert: I liked the relationship between Tain and Samantha. It was well developed and realistic (in paranormal terms). I didn't like the storyline as much as the other Immortals' books, however. In my mind, Tain suffered enough in the first four books. The events in this book take the gratuitous abuse and mutilation a step further, possibly for shock value? I am thoroughly disappointed. For that reason, this book gets 3 stars.

This series keeps you enthralled on the edge of your seat! The characters have so much depth you may need to read the books more than once to really understand them.
I really enjoy this writer. The stories pull you in and you want to know more about these characters. Quick reading. I am enjoying the series.
Good ending for the Immortals story line. Tain's story is epic and satisfying. I have enjoyed the series very much. Just wish Tain had not been beat up so much. The story "Wolf Hunt" should be read after this one, not before. has it numbered as 0, but it should follow this one.

Note Do not start this series with this book. As book 5 of the series, this story finishes the tale of 5 Immortal brothers. The hero, Tain, is the youngest of them. Each of the 4 older brothers stories involves the seven- hundred year quest to save Tain from a demon who is torturing him. Tain's own book is about how his love for a woman has helped his soul to find "Redemption".
The triumph was worth the wait!
For 15 months, Tain has been walking the earth looking for an end to the nightmares he has of his centuries of torture. His brothers have been giving him unconditional love and support, but Tain's soul is still tormented. The one thing that has kept him going is the comfort of the dreams he has of Samantha. She is half- human/half- demon. It was her powerful presence that helped him defeat his evil captor. Now he watches over her.
Samantha is a cop in the Los Angeles Paranormal Police Dept. Her half-demon blood gives her very little power, but her courage makes up for it. While performing her duties, Samantha is attacked by full blooded demons of rivaling clans. She is shocked when a face from the past rises to her defense. In a matter of seconds, her attackers are demolished. For the first time in 15 months, Samantha is face- to- face with the Immortal, Tain. All of the emotions he stirred in her over a year ago are back in a flash.
Young female demons are being murdered. Rival clans of demons blame one another. If the real murderer isn't found, the clans will burst into a full scale war. The world will become a battle ground. When evidence surfaces to suggest that Tain may be to blame, Samantha is slammed with a devastating choice Believe in Tain and work with him to find the killer, or believe the evidence that indicates that Tain may be praying on demons to get revenge for his past torture.
Whatever the future holds, Tain will not let Samantha face the danger alone. Providing her with strength, support, and protection has become Tain's personal road to Redemption. More powerful than all four of his older brothers combined, Tain is ready to face Hell all over again for Samantha.
Awesome story! Jennifer Ashley did Tain's book right. It's not all roses and beauty, but it's also not all vengeance and anger. Tain is tormented by the past, but more than ready to find comfort in his love for Samantha. He is powerful, but not invulnerable.
Samantha is brave, but not stupidly so. She is stronger than a regular human, but not prideful when others step in to offer her help. No mean streak or immature pouting. I was able to really like both main characters as well as several side characters. (I'm hoping for a book about her police partner, a werewolf named Logan!)

Tain's story was just as intriguing as the other brothers. I really like how each one has some similar features as would be expected with family but each one also has a unique personality and an individual story to tell. I also enjoy the characters of the paranormal community that show up in each book of the series. Considering there are several different authors writing the stories, it is impressive how they maintain the consistency across the series.
I was SO happy to read Tain's story...he had endured so much, he deserved to find happiness. Samantha is the perfect mate for him. She is strong and extremely loyal, and has so much love to share, all of which Tain desperately needs.
The twists and turns that this story took you on was amazing, and I never knew quite what to expect. It is what I had come to expect from this series...I have fallen in love with Jennifer Ashley's writing, and will certainly be looking to get other work by her.
I started this series on a while and one of the things I discovered during this reading of the series is that the books by Jennifer Ashley were superior to the other authors in this series. Not to say I did not enjoy those books but they were not up to the level of the three books by Jennifer Ashley.
The concluding story about Tain and Samantha was wonderful, it did all the things you need from a great story. I made you laugh, it made you concerned, it captured your interest and had an amazing conclusion that ended not only this novel but the original story of the 5 brothers.
Just when we thought we had seen all we ever would of demons, there is a bit more to take care of plus although Tain is free he is still having to try to repair his own mind after all the years of torture and insanity.
This book is called The Redeeming for a good reason, that is the basic premise of this book, to allow Tain to be redeemed and find his own life and Samantha wants to be part of it.
